As parents of three children under the age of four, Brendan McGettrick and Rhona Creegan know well the challenging job that parents of young families have on their hands; balancing that precious time with the children with some well deserved 'me-time'. Having had their fill of wet park benches, disappointing play venues and junk food, they decided there must be a better way. "We just couldn't find anywhere that was focussed on the play needs of younger children, that provided healthy food, but also a grown-up space that catered for our needs too," says Rhona. At the start of 2006, Brendan and Rhona set about developing their own solution, selecting Naas Town Centre as their first location for a new type of business in Ireland. Joey's is an urban play centre focussing on families with children from 0 to 6 years where the needs of the parents are taken every bit as seriously as those of the young ones. Free internet, magazines, newspapers and a comfortable café area serving healthy snacks and great coffee are just a few of the things in store for Mum and Dad at Joey's. "Our business is really about three things" says Brendan, "a safe stimulating environment for play; a comfortable place for parents to relax; and a range of services for the family". To this end Joey's customers will experience the latest in play facilities, sumptuous café seating and a whole range of classes and activities for both parents and children. Joey's, opening on 9th December, is located on the first floor of Naas Town Centre, with lift access from the underground carpark, as well as direct access from the rooftop carpark.
